Giant accordion sketch painted today by me Gloria Poole,RN,artist of/in Missouri

I, Gloria Poole,aka gloriapoole RN, artist drew this first with graphite, then painted it with acrylic paint and brushes. Then I signed it, photographed it and uploaded it to this blog of mine today 5th June 2016 at 10:36am. I exaggerated the accordion obviously. And the person is NOT a real person--just one I created for the sketch. In fact, I usually do NOT attempt to paint real, living people but create people as I paint, to fit my idea. I call those pretend people or composite people. The few times I sketched real people, I said so in my notes. Sunset on pond sketch painted today by me Gloria Poole,RN,artist of/in Missouri

This is supposed to be a pond with the late afternoon afternoon setting sun shining on it. I am not happy with it, but I am posting it anyway. I learn from my mistakes and sometimes seeing them as they look photographed helps me decide what I did wrong in the sketch. I went to nebraska for a few days and then of course, came back. Traveling is exhausting for anybody and I knew I was exhausted but sometimes, often in fact, drawing helps me unwind the stress. I drew this with graphite and then painted it with watercolor pencils and then watercolor from pans in some places. I signed it, photographed it several times but cybercriminals at remote were trying to snag the photos [via wifi that is NOT enabled supposedly on my big digital camera but appears to be at times], and then I uploaded it, and posted it today to this blog of mine. Moonbeam sketch drawn today by me Gloria Poole,RN,artist of Missouri

Silhouette sketches of musicians painted today by me Gloria Poole,RN,artist of Missouri

I painted this today after seeing a print tweeted to me by a Museum yesterday that was named "jazz". I decided I would practice painting silhouettes so I drew 3 different sketches of this idea this morning about 6am. This is the first sketch I began by painting a similar background as I saw in the tweet yesterday but then I was uncertain how to proceed so I stopped and got plain paper and drew in pencil two silhouettes to get an idea of the shapes involved and then I painted those too. Then I went back to first sketch to draw in the silhouette and paint it. I posted the 2nd sketch below of same theme but reversed the color scheme. I signed all 3 of the sketches as usual with paint and a brush, photographed them, uploaded them [that took from about 8:45am -9:25 am because prodeathers in D.C. try to throttle my ISP service to try to censor my prolife words and speech] and then I posted them to this blog of mine. . Red rose sketch 8 drawn and painted by me Gloria Poole,RN,artist of Missouri

This is about the eighth sketch of a red rose I have drawn and painted. I keep trying to get to the point where it looks like a real rose. So I think I have to draw and paint it ninety two more times! [The now dead but very famous artist Michelango said to improve your painting draw, draw, draw and that to capture something draw it one hundred times, but those are not his exact words.] I signed this as I always sign art that i consider finished except on occasion when I absent-mindedly sign art I also sign my born with, legal surname of Poole on it. I drew this one night very late on ordinary ink jet paper for business. Sunset painted in pastels today by me Gloria Poole,RN,artist of Missouri

I drew this with pastel sticks which are pigments bound together with something such as gum arabic, or glue, or ???. I have practiced "painting" with them as it is called though I prefer painting with a brush. Sunrises and sunsets are some of my favorite scenes to photograph or try to paint. I never feel as if I capture the emotion of the sunsets or sunrises. This is on 8 1 xx cardstock paper that was that gorgeous melon color to begin with. Cardstock is very similar to bristol board but smaller in size. I signed this with an oil pencil that because it will write over pastels. Copyrighted. I was trying to paint both the orangey glow of the sunset but also the sparkling points of pure white that appear on the ocean when the sun is directly above it.

2 sketches surreal in purple & ceiling fan drawn by me Gloria Poole,RN,artist; Missouri

This is my 2nd effort to draw my ceiling fan in my bedroom. I study that fan often because at night it is an excellent study in shadows. And in how objects that are known to be identical create optical illusions when the light is different and when viewing them from beneath them [like when I am laying on my bed looking up at it]. I know for certain the blades of the fan are identical, but they never look identical. The ones closes to me look much bigger, the one on the backside of fan looks shorter and thinner. I tried to draw the fan as I saw it. I changed the metal on it to copper in my drawing just to see how I liked that. I also added in another blade! I drew this with graphite and then painted it with watercolor pencils and a wash of water over them. It is on 6 x 8 inch watercolor-specific paper. I drew this with chalk on a purple cardstock paper 8 x 11 inches in size. I drew it, signed it, photographed it, uploaded it and posted it today 20th March 2016 at 12:51pm. This is only one of my blogs that I regularly post art I create too, and I include links to others below. I photographed it clipped to my large portable drawing board propped on my giant A-frame easel. I have a plethora of easels and portable drawing boards fortunately and I use all of them at various times. Copyrighted.
