Practicing painting hands for oil painting sketches made today by Gloria Poole,RN,artist of /in Missouri

I, Gloria Poole, RN, artist, have made much progress on the oil painting I am painting as I interpret the song by Edie Brickell and Steve Martin entitled "Remember me this way". I wrote on several blog posts of mine about that and why I am doing it on my https://gloriapoole.blogspot.com. But I have to paint in several sets of hands on that oil painting and I decided I needed to practice some before attempting that. these are the practice sketches .

This is the sketch I made practicing an art technique called foreshortening that is an optical illusion intended to make something look a certain way. For example a hand outstretched toward a viewer is seen as a large hand with a receding arm. I drew this in pencil first, than painted it. I re-drew it several times which is why I put cross-hatching around it to cover up some of the pencil marks. I made this, signed it, photographed it, uploaded it and posted it to this blog of mine, which is true of all art on this blog. I also photographed all photos on this blog. This is watercolor and inktense on 9x12 paper sketchbook.

,P>This is a second study of hands in various positions with their forearms. It is drawn and painted with inktense and then washed over with water. It is also 9x12 sketchbook form. I made this, signed it, photographed it, uploaded it and posted it to this blog of mine, which is true of all art on this blog.

This was supposed to be a woman's outstretched hand but I messed up the proportion on the thumb. I used purple chalk to create the background. This is 9 x 12 paper in my sketchbook of the moment. This is a graphic I made using an app that was on one of my electronic gadgets until cyber-criminals attacked me and it for being prolife. This is not the entire graphic as it was sliced into two halves by cyber-thieves it seems. I will adjust some security settings.

Abstract sketch innards made on 10th July 2015 by Gloria Poole, RN, artist of / in Missouri

This is an abstract sketch of a human's "innards" which is a country word for the organs of the human body inside the peritoneum and in the chest. I drew this in inktense and then put a wash of water over it. I use fine line markers to make the dots in the background. It is 9x12 in my sketchbook. I made it, signed it, photographed it, uploaded it and posted it to this blog of mine which is true for all art on this blog. I also photographed all photos on this blog.

This is an ethnic series sketch of a Texas Indian woman who was participating in the "Princess Pocahontas" festival. It purposefully does not look much like her as I considered her to be a private person [not a "celebrity" nor a Monarch, nor an elected official] and I make a deliberate effort not to make images of living private people unless they are "household names" i.e. in the news so much because of their "public figure" status that it is not a violation of privacy or copyright of their images. I made it, signed it, photographed it, uploaded it and posted it to this blog of mine which is true for all art on this blog. Obviously this is in my sketchbook which is 9 x 12 .

This is my effort to sketch a pink tree that I saw.I made it, signed it, photographed it, uploaded it and posted it to this blog of mine which is true for all art on this blog. You can tell from the signature that I created this with watercolor. I had too much water on my paintbrush when I signed it and so my signature 'ran" a bit from where I signed it. This is also in my newly-bought sketchbook.

5 Yellow sketches and photos made by Gloria Poole, RN, artist of Missouri

This is the sketch I made today to try a new technique I read about in an art book, of putting a wash over the pigments of pastels. However, that did not go as planned because I used a different type of pastels which seemed to have more of the binder in them than what the book had suggested. So the water did not effect the powdered pastels in the way the book said it would affect regular pastels. I have not ever used regular pastels but have experimented with oil pastels and made several sketches with powdered pastels. I almost messed it up because what I though was a deep violet color was a blue and I couldn't undo it without smearing it. So this sketch doesn't quite look as I had intended, but it has merit in that I learned several things about those powdered pastels which I didn't know before, and that I could brush regular watercolor over them. I did brush regular watercolor in tubes and pans over the yellow flower and the purple iris. So, it sort of surprised me that a clear water wash over them made no difference, but that water mixed with watercolor would adhere. I did not name this. It is 8 x11 on inkjet paper. I signed this, photographed it, uploaded it and posted it to this blog as is true for all art and photos on this blog. There are some photos that were added to an online account that belongs to me but which cybercriminals hacked and uploaded photos of people I had never seen or ever heard of, and I posted a blog post about that about 2 yrs ago. I usually only use inkjet paper for writing with a pen and occasiopnal sketching in ink but I filled my sketchbook and have not bought a new one yet. I am not much on shopping--usually only when I need something.

2 sketches wooden shoes & little green apples made last nite by Gloria Poole, RN, artist of /in Missouri 8 June 2015

This is a sketch I made last night about 3 am when a storm waked me up and I couldn't sleep. I have experimented some in past few weeks with patterned backgrounds just for variety. This is 8 x 11 on paper and it is on my portable drawing board where I often photograph sketches I make. I made it, signed it, photographed it, uploaded over so-called "high speed internet" that took 20 MINUTES to upload 3 photos to this blog because criminals at remote try to break into my account and the system tries to prevent that and I guess it means something necessary to uploader is used to stop cyber-attack? Anyway, here are these very simple sketches. Also, yesterday I made batch 2 of sketches of singer Edie Brickell and comedian Steve Martin who plays banjo in some songs with her, and I posted them to my https://gloriapoole.blogspot.com.

This is a sketch on 8 x 11 paper of little green and red apples in sort of random, abstract way. It's not elaborate. At 3 am I am not at my peak performance. It was simply something to distract my thoughts from the storm.

I am adding in symbols, logos and selfie of me again because in past 3 days criminals have tried to hijack 2 phone numbers of mine by breaking into carrier's servers, 2 blogs of mine; and my name; and this morning they tried to interfere with an automated payment I was making over phone and they broke into the system and was punching numbers from remote location, trying to hijack my card number. I had to unplug telephone from wall jack THRRE TIMES to stop the criminals from accessing my telephone calls from a supposedly wired telephone. The telephone systems in the U S are totally being destroyed by something--criminals working for old Hillary is my guess. I don't really expect that notice to make much difference. The Obama administration is like all African so-called "leadership" and that is corrupt as hell, and stealing whatever they can. They are a lawless bunch as the U S has witnessed on TV for months now. Also, for the record, I began this account in the state of Missouri and it was never accessed by me from Colorado. About a minute ago, I saw a url appear with the letters "Den" in it and it was a trick to try to get me to type in password for criminal exhusband in Colorado, who is not now and NEVER WAS AUTHORIZED to log into any account of mine. He has no lawful authority over me in any way and he is my worst enemy who tried four times to kill me. He seems to be stalking me on the web. DBP murders people for Obama so the feds protect him from prosecution.

Abstract sketches of flowers and still life made by Gloria Poole,RN, artist of / in Missouri on 29 May 2015

This is a sketch I made after lunch today. it is a flower named lupines and it is a hybrid plant. Of corse, I added in the upward spiral just for fun. It is 11 x 14 on paper in my sketch book of the moment and I drew it first with graphite then painted it with watercolor. I signed it as I usually do when I consider art I made finished and photographed it and uploaded as is true of all art on this blog and any blog of mine. The second sketch I made today is below.

This is a sketch of tomatoes on the vine sort of. Tomatoes actually grow on a plant that grows upright not as a ground runner plant, but I changed it to make it more artsy. Also, I added in some other sort of plant to the side for variety and then the scrolls. It also is 11 x 14 on paper in my sketch book of the moment and I drew it first with graphite then painted it with watercolor. I signed it as I usually do.

This is my selfie in spring 2014 but I look the same except thinner and my hair is longer. I still put my hair in lop-sided pony-tail when I walkabout or paint to prevent hair from getting into my eyes, or into my paints or inks.

Tugboat sketch painted by Gloria Poole,RN,artist in Missouri on 18 May 2015

This is the sketch in my sketch book of the moment that I drew, then re-drew then painted today and signed today and named it tugboat. Then I photographed it and uploaded it. It is 11 x 14 on paper and is mixed media of inktense, watercolor and acrylic. I have sketched boats many times and in all sizes and shapes.
