Silhouette sketches of musicians painted today by me Gloria Poole,RN,artist of Missouri

I painted this today after seeing a print tweeted to me by a Museum yesterday that was named "jazz". I decided I would practice painting silhouettes so I drew 3 different sketches of this idea this morning about 6am. This is the first sketch I began by painting a similar background as I saw in the tweet yesterday but then I was uncertain how to proceed so I stopped and got plain paper and drew in pencil two silhouettes to get an idea of the shapes involved and then I painted those too. Then I went back to first sketch to draw in the silhouette and paint it. I posted the 2nd sketch below of same theme but reversed the color scheme. I signed all 3 of the sketches as usual with paint and a brush, photographed them, uploaded them [that took from about 8:45am -9:25 am because prodeathers in D.C. try to throttle my ISP service to try to censor my prolife words and speech] and then I posted them to this blog of mine. . This is the second sketch of the same theme of a silhouetted musician but I reversed the colors to see which I liked the best. I created, signed and photographed, uploaded and posted this sketch also. Copyrighted.

Red rose sketch 8 drawn and painted by me Gloria Poole,RN,artist of Missouri

This is about the eighth sketch of a red rose I have drawn and painted. I keep trying to get to the point where it looks like a real rose. So I think I have to draw and paint it ninety two more times! [The now dead but very famous artist Michelango said to improve your painting draw, draw, draw and that to capture something draw it one hundred times, but those are not his exact words.] I signed this as I always sign art that i consider finished except on occasion when I absent-mindedly sign art I also sign my born with, legal surname of Poole on it. I drew this one night very late on ordinary ink jet paper for business. Sunset painted in pastels today by me Gloria Poole,RN,artist of Missouri

I drew this with pastel sticks which are pigments bound together with something such as gum arabic, or glue, or ???. I have practiced "painting" with them as it is called though I prefer painting with a brush. Sunrises and sunsets are some of my favorite scenes to photograph or try to paint. I never feel as if I capture the emotion of the sunsets or sunrises. This is on 8 1 xx cardstock paper that was that gorgeous melon color to begin with. Cardstock is very similar to bristol board but smaller in size. I signed this with an oil pencil that because it will write over pastels. Copyrighted.
